We have a gas line that's not capped off?

Question:Behind our electric stove, it's turned off, just not capped. We haven't had a problem, but tonight we smell what seems like gas. Who do we call, what do we do?

Answers:
i would make sure the ball valve is off. (the handle will be across the line, not parallel with it). Spray a mixture of dish soap and water on the outlet of the line, if you get bubbles, the valve is leaking past. See if there's another shutoff valve farther back in the line. If not, i would hit the local home depot for a cap and cap the thing off. Be sure to ventilate the area so you dont build up gas in a confined space.

1. Lowe's or Home depot..
2. Teflon tape and 1/2" or 3/4" pipe cap. (you can get one of each for less than four bucks..
3. Pull out stove and cap off the pipe...
(Requires a "monkey" wrench or large crescent.)
sounds like not good.

btw, the two apt fires in my complex were cause by bad wiring. at least it looks like that was it (ask dad he'll tell you cause he saw it)
so I would have the wiring checked out.
yep you gotta worry about the landlord, he's worse than creepy, the house seems a little unsafe.
