How do I hook up the auto-chlorintor for my above ground pool?
Question:It's a Hayward CL110. It is supposed to hook up off line connecting to the pump output line And filter output line (I think). The problem is that it didn't come with any instructions and the Hayward site doesn't have any. I don't know which valve on the filter is in and which is out. I've tried both ways and don't seem to be getting any chlorine into the pool.
Answers:
The inlet side on the chlorinator has the control valve on it. It basically should be plumbed in so that it takes water into the chlorinator from between the pump and the filter, and the water from the chlorinator goes back into the return line into the pool after the filter. One common problem is with putting the fittings into the body of the chlorinator; if they are put in the wrong places, it will block the flow of water through it. The fitting on the outlet side will have a check valve in it. (you can usually tell this by shaking them; the outlet fitting will have a little ball in it that will rattle when shaken. It should also have a black or blue dot on it, if I remember correctly.) Reverse them if the are in the wrong places.
If this is your first time using these kind of tablets, keep in mind that they are not designed to raise a chlorine level quickly; they're designed maintain it over a long period of time.
The top in to the chlorintor the bottom comes in from the chlorintor. When it is working you should see the chlorintor filing up. Also you should have a valve the ajusted the amounts of chlorine to the pool. But I will tell you I did pools for years the best system is the floater (which pinch a penny) are any other pool company sells you put four to five 3 inch tabs in and you are good to go for weeks.
