Electrical problem?
Question:Okay sooo we noticed that the two bedrooms in our house have no power what so ever
and the rest of our house does
when my dad got a new breaker in on the one that we thought worked the two room [we think the rooms are on the same breaker]
nothing happened and we still didn't have light
so my dad took down my ceiling fan, that we just got a month ago, to see if a wire came loose and nothing was loose
when he went down stair to turn the breaker back on, nothing came on again
but when he was checking the wires on the fan, he felt a little buzz
but there is still no light?
can you help me please
and is there anyway that this can cause a fire
if so what are some ways to prevent it?
thanks everyone

Look for a bad outlet. If one outlet is bad, the rest of the outlets on the line will be dead.
You say you have no power what soever in both bedrooms including outlets too I assume. Normally outlets and lights are on a seperat breaker. A 20 amp for outlets and 15 amp for lights. So if you dont have power in either then you most likely have a shorted wire or some disconnected wiring in the Ceiling fan box. Try disconnecting the ceiling fan all together and then turn on the breakers. If you dont have power anywhere then call an electrician. You should not need to worry about a fire.
You have an open circuit somewhere. I would check your fan again, except that should not be on your outlets circuit. Who ever added that fan in, may have tapped into that cicuit, though.

more than likely tour fan/light is on a different circuit than the bathrooms...the plugs in the bathrooms should be on a GFI (ground fault interrupter), that's the little push thingies on the wall plug. the wall plug with the gfi may not be in the bathroom, it could be in the kitchen by the sink or even in the laundry room. some newer homes could have them on the the breaker in the panel. also, my friend had his gfi outside on his patio, it controlled all the bathroom plugs in the house. took us an hour to find it.
if there is a short then the main breaker should break to the off position, if the breakers are in the proper position but no power then it is your gri breaker, find it n reset it.
also note that gfi's do go bad so if it doesn't reset then replace it.
whats a gfi for? so if you drop your hair dryer in the water it will activate the breaker so you don't get shocked.

It is common to have multiple rooms and lighting on the same circuit in a residential dwelling. Some times each room will be split into 2 circuits so you will have half a room with power. When a circuit leaves a panel it splits out like a tree branch to different plugs, switches and lights. There is a splice in every plug, switch and light on the affected circuit. This is going to sound crazy but the problem can also be in a outlet that is still working! The wires feeding the plug could be tight but the wires leaving the plug could be loose. Basic trouble shooting the circuit involves taking every plug, switch and/or light apart closest to the affected circuit and checking for loose connections. note: sometimes all you have to do is tap on the affected plug and everything will come on. But first check to see if there are any tripped gfi outlets in the house .
