I charge $55 to unjam disposals.
Unless it can fall under minimum charge status which is $25.
When I can do a little 5 minute job between calls that's usually a minimum charge call.
But when people want you there at a certain time, or you have to make an appointment it's usually a full service charge.
for 50 dollars you could buy a new one.
We paid Roto-Rooter to come and unclock our drain fix our sink. It was at least $300 and he didn't fix our drain. He said it was the city's problem. He looked at our sink and said we needed to replace it. The city came out that night (early morning) and said that the pipe was clear on their end and that we needed to call Roto-Rooter back to resnake the drain.
Try not to use Roto-Rooter. They're a rip-off.
That's ridiculous. $50 to drive to the house and push a door bell? Roto-Rooter is a franchise operation, each company sets it's own charges, and this one is exorbitant. This is something that you can do yourself. Use a flashlight, push the black rubber flaps back on the cover at the drain and locate the bottle opener. It will be visible. Use your "free" hand to wiggle the opener back and forth until you free it enough to pull it out. Sometimes when a "jam" like this happens, you may have to reset the disposal, if so there is a reset button located on the disposal (usually red in color) simply push it to reset it once you have the opener removed. Before doing any of this - PLEASE make sure that the switch that turns the disposal on is in the "off" position.
