Why does water come out of breather on sink when i run dishwasher?
Question:
Answers:
You may have an occlusion in one of the pipes.
'cause it drains into the pipe right above your trap, and it either can't handle the pressure or the volume of the water drainage and it backs up
Got a block or lose pipe
The discharge pump in the dishwasher sends water to pipes under your sink or to you garbage disposal. Try running disposal for a minute just before you start your dishwasher. If that doesn't help then your P-trap under the sink is probably partially blocked. Put a bucket under the p-trap and unscrew the big plastic nuts. Clean out the trap. If the trap is unblocked then you will have to run a plumbing snake down the outflow tube that goes into the wall to clear it. If that doesn't work then look outside of the house adjacent to the kitchen sink and look for a small plastic cap either on the side of the house or in the ground. Run the plumbing snake down this towards the street. If that doesn't work then call a plumber, you've done about all that you can do.
it comes out because there is a tube that runs into both of the sides of the sink
I would say you have a blockage in the pipe that runs from the dishwasher to the drain. Find where the inlet comes into the drain and if you can reach it, unplug it with something like a wire or even your finger.
The "breather " is a vacuum braker.
First, try to remove the silver cap cover. Most come off with a twisting action.
Now is it possible to take that plastic breather apart? most times you can. It not hard to do. When you do, you may find there's food or something stuck at the top. Note that the discharge line runs up into that plastic breather, then a second line go's to the garbage disposal. IF there is something stuck remove it Nothing there?
Pull the hose going from the breather to the disposal, AT the disposal and remove what ever grease and crud is in there. Also use what ever is handy to clean out the hole where that hose connected to the dispoal. Crud packed in there can also cause your problem.
Finally, run your disposal when ever you can with the first dumping of the dishwasher water.
The breather your referring to is called an air gap,the D/W drain is not clogged from the D/W to the air gap. It is clogged on the air gap outgoing hose to the disposal.Remove the black rubber hose and clean it with a bottle brush also clean the port where the hose connects to the disposal.
