Green pool water, not caused by algae.?

Question:I was filling our new vinyl, above-ground pool today. When it was almost full I added pool shock and turned on the filter (which has a chlorine dispenser in it). An hour later I noticed the pool had a green tint to it. Everything I've been able to find online talks about algae, which obviously didn't form in a few hours. What could cause this tint?

Answers:
OK here's what you do. use i lb of sodium dichlor per 10,000 gallons of pool water, per week. and use a water clarifier called sea KLEAR green just a squirt will do. this product binds the small particles together so your filter does catch the dirt. run your pool 24 hrs a day until pool clears!

Mineral content in the water itself might do it.

Big Springs MO, puts out water that is 'coke bottle' green, if you remember the old glass Coca Cola bottles, hehehe.

Try taking a sample of the water to be tested. (Your local county Health office can do this, or you can purchase a kit from some stores to send off)

Good Luck
I think its either algae or some junk they sold you at the pool store. Try http://appliancequickfix.com/ they have a real good page on pool water maintenance
