Does my 2000 Maytag Washer needs a new Belt?!?

Question:My Maytag Washer just all of the sudden quit working.

It makes this quiet 'Jackhammer' Sound when I try to Start it.
The Agitator Spins realy Slowly, and I think the Motor Revs-up, and makes this sound.

This sound could also be Described as a lite 'Machine-Gun' Sound.

I think it may need a new belt, but I can't figure out how to remove the Panels, to check it out!!

So, do I need a New Belt?!?
And how do I get the Panel off, to Change the Belt?!?

Answers:
Look for 2 phillips screws 4 inches from the bottom. If there are no screws, place the end of a putty knife between the top and front. Push in the two clips that are about 1 inch in from the sides. Gently pull on the front as you push on each clip.

Find the book that came with this appliance, or go to Matag.com.
If this is a top load washer, just tip it back and find the belts underneath. Pull the belt or belts off and check the pullerys on the pump, transmission and motor with your hand. Any one can cause your problem
