I'm assuming this in the bathtub/shower. There is usually an access panel. It may be in the adjacent room. Sometime, you can just remove the entire sheet of paneling from the adjacent wall and do the repair, then just tack the panel back up when you are done. If there isn't an access panel, you will have to obtain an access panel, and cut the appropriate opening. Access panels can usually be purchased at a building supply or mobile home supply house. If the faucet is just dripping, or is difficult to operate, you might be able to replace just the valve stems. Remove the handles and the chrome sleeves that cover the stems(if there are any). Then using the proper deep well socket, remove the stem, and inspect the seals on the stems and the seats inside the faucet body. Some stems are simply a one piece unit that is made for easy replacement. Once you remove the stems, take them to the building supplier and purchase new ones. There are hundreds of different stems out there, so finding new ones could be difficult, more difficult that cutting a hole and installing an access panel.
Is this on the sink or lavatory? If so, why should you need to get into the wall? The piping leading to the sink should be exposed under the sink. If there are no shut-off valves-then just turn the water off outside. If the tubing has a "clamped fit" you may have to cut the tubing to remove the old faucet.
