Chlorine will do that. ~
You should first shock it and then keep clorine in it. You can get these chemicals and more information at your local pool store.
shock it. if you water is clear but ph levels are low had a few gallons of bleach with chlorine in it
pretty straightfoward, go to a pool supply and buy some algecide killer, apply so many ounces of it to so many gallons of water, as directed on the label. if you have algae it's a pretty good bet you haven't shocked the pool either, or kept chlorine levels up. a pool is not a fill it and forget proposition, it requires constant monitoring of pool chemicals to maintain a healthy and sparkling clean pool. a net is needed to skim the surface for large debris like bugs and such and it needs to be vacuumed as needed too. a pool needs a little tlc just about everyday for you to get the most enjoyment out of it and the least amount spent on chemicals to maintain it. enjoy!
shock it (pool supply store, or walmart/target.
We used to pour a gallon of white vinegar and a gallon of bleach every week when I was growing up. Seemed to keep it under control.
Sounds like you need to learn the whole nine yards. I would suggest that you google swimming pool maintenance. Killing the algea only will not solve the problem of why you got it in the first place. Taking care of a pool is easy once you know how to prevent problems ahead of time.
Many methods you can use... here's the "basic".
Clean or backwash the filter. Recharge with DE if you have that type filter. Make sure water is in balance... Alkalinity around 80 to 100, pH at 7.4. Shock pool to at least 15 ppm chlorine (avoid calcium hypochlorite unless you love to vacuum). For your size pool, one gal. of pool chlorine or two of laundry bleach. Run pump for 24 hours. Next day clean the filter again. Brush surfaces and keep the pool clean as possible with net and/or vacuum. Your big question is why did it go green in the first place.
shock then algaecide then vaccum.
