Where can i get dowels from? How do you sharpen it?& How much is it?

Question:Like the one that u put in cakes. Thanks

Answers:
u get dowels from u'r hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowes, even Michaels & JoAnn's Etc carry them. I know what u'r using them for. As far as sharping them.. u can use a electric still sander or sand paper or can u whittle? They r not mch.. IT depends on the thickness & length u need. They make reg. pine & oak ones but u could get away w/ the pine ones.. Try calling those places & they can give u the prices. If u need them cut.. HD & Lowes will cut them for u.

What do dowels have to do with cakes?

From dictionary.com:
dowel (def.)
1. Also called dowel pin. Carpentry. a pin, usually round, fitting into holes in two adjacent pieces to prevent their slipping or to align them.
2. a piece of wood driven into a hole drilled in a masonry wall to receive nails, as for fastening woodwork.
3. a round wooden rod of relatively small diameter.

If your are, indeed, looking for small diameter round wooden rods then I suggest going to your local home center or hardware store.

If you are looking for something to test whether you baked cake is done then use a toothpick (found in your grocery store).
you do not get dowels for cakes,, you buy the plates that have legs attached to them that are fitted thru the bottom cake layer!
