Cut every bit of fat off the hide, fold inward and freeze the hide. If you are going to freeze longer than 6 months, remove the head. Do not salt down the hide when you plan to freeze it.
I am assuming that this hide has already been tanned and it is something you display in your livingroom. If this is the case the best way to store furs is in a cotton bag in the coldest place you can find. I would also suggest putting moth balls in the bag just in case. If you have a hanger big enough to hold the hide carefully drape it over the hanger and then cover with the cotton bag and tie at the bottom. If not try and store the hide flat and cover. Furs and hides should be stored in a storage vault if possible but I have stored many fur pieces this way and they have lasted quite a few years without drying out and ripping.
