Well Pressure?
Question:I have a well (pump is underground) and a "bladder" tank. Where should the pressure be set to - to kick on and back off? The well was put in about 3 years ago ...
It is currently set at 42/65

Most pressure switches operate within a 20 to 60 psi. It's mean
will turn on pump low than 20 and turn off pump more than 60psi pressure. Residential is 60 to 80psi.It's up to you that how much water pressure is feed your pipe for use and the
pump how many gallon per hour can send to the pipe .The standard of well water pressure is between 40 to 60psi.
sound good to me. It will turn on at 42 psi and shut off at 65 psi.
the pressure is usley set at a 40psi on and 60 psi off .The air in the blatter tank with the pump off and the water faucet open needs to be at 38 psi or 2 psi lower than the on setting you can not trust the gauge on the tank.
42 is pretty low. 65 is about right. Too much pressure and your faucets won't shut off right. You could go 60 - 80, if you are adventurous. As long as the pump can handle the head pressure. if you start having problems, back off the top pressure
If you're not having any problems with those sittings, stay with those set points.
Sounds like your pressure switch is measuring the pressure at the bladder tank to go on and off. If there are problems this is what I would do, which involves two people to check your system. You want to find out what the pressure is at the house when the system starts and stops. After the well pump has stopped, measure your water pressure at an outlet in the house to see if the pressure is 65 psi, then use water in the house until the pump starts again and at what pressure. You will now be able to see if the pressure switch on your bladder tank and the pressure in the house are correct.
Why would you put your pump underground?
I have never heard of a pump that is underground. Is the pipe underground leading to the house where your pump should be? Did you know that pumps need bleeding every now and then to keep your pressure to its max to save on power. Check the bladder to see if it is working properly.
I would check your Manuel for instructions.
