Old oak floorboards - what do I use to polish them?

Question:I have old oak floorboards (grade 2 listed building) can anyone advise me on the best products to polish them?

Answers:
I don't like the idea of sanding and waxing, it would remove the patina. Boiled linseed oil mixed with a little turps or white spirit wiped on would seem OK

wax
earwax
to polish an old oak floorboard you simply mix up some ketchup and lysol and u take a toothbrush, dip it in your mixture and srub on the floorboards!
In the past, I have used a product called "Murphy's Oil" on most any natural wood surface. Available in most stores in the floor polishing or cleaning sections. Try it, I think you'll see some pleasant results.
There is good stuff made by bruce for wood flooring, you can get it at any Ace hardware store, we have alot of homes that use it were i live too
I believe a mixture of beeswax and turpentine was the traditional treatment for oak floor boards, plus a generous helping of those other ingredients, elbow grease and perspiration.
depending on the condition...i would sand, and wax to bring them up.
Use bees wax. It will waterproof and protect your floor for ages.
