Does Lowes or Home Depot rent steam strippers for removing wallpaper ?

You would probably spend less time figuring this out by calling them or going online to get the answer yourself. Don't be lazy! Be proactive!
A couple of cheap stam irons will do you well for a small one room job but you can also get wall paper remover that does not need steam which they sell and which has made the steamers sort of old school. The stuff works great and both places sell it. You apply it with a sponge, no heat needed.
I need to go to bed. I misread you question and was thinking you had written asking about "steamy strippers" and I was thinking."What a perve!" Turns out I don't read and/or think very clearly after midnight. Sorry
Why waste $$ renting or buying anything?
For years, I've used a spray bottle. That's it! Fill it with water and spray away!
Home Depot sells a chemical that's environmentally friendly, it's called "Diff" we've used it on the job for years now. You mix the pint bottle in one gallon of boiling water and, with a sponge mop, simply wipe it on the wallpaper. By the time you go around the room once, the paper will be lose, the second time you go around, the paper will be very loose and start falling by itself, wait a few minutes, you may need a third time.
Most of the time twice is enough, then simply pull the paper off. "Diff" saves a lot of work. I'm surprised people still use steamers or other means after they come out with "Diff" everyone in the "business" uses "diff"
NO MATTER WHAT ALL THESE PEOPLE RECOMMEND, I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING.DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A STEAM STRIPPER.JUST GO OUT AND GET REGULAR FABRIC SOFTENER AND A ROLLER AND ROLL IT ON THE WALL. THE WALLPAPER WILL COME OFF EASILY. PLUS, YOUR HOUSE WILL SMELL CLEAN!!
