go to the paint or hardware store and buy a 5 in one tool. with that and a utillity knife you should get the old caulk out easy enough. re- caulk with DAP ALEX II and you wont be doing this again any time soon!
If the caulk is still soft, try to work a small razor blade underneath the bead of caulk. It usually will come off in a long string in that situation. In the event of it being a hard caulk, use a small flat (like a putty knife) scraping object to apply even pressure to break te seal, and it should break away. Although slow, thats sometimes what you need to do.
Remove it carefully with a razor blade knife.
It's best to remove the old caulking, or at least most of it, before you put in new caulk. Try peeling it out using a box-cutter blade to loosen it first. Just run the razor edge of the box-cutter along the edges of the caulk and then pull it straight out.
you must take a razor knif and remice all wearhered caulking. then wipr with some sort of alchol on a rag, let dry and then apply new calkiing
Adding new caulking will not work because it will not absorb the old caulking, it will just sit on top.
Use an olfa knife (carefully). Extend the blade out of the knife just a little bit further than the depth of the caulking. Insert the blade into the the old caulking vertically, flush against the edge of whatever material its bonded to (window frame, door frame, wall) and run it down the length of the old bead. Then do the same thing horizontally, again keeping it flush against whatever surface its bonded to.
Now you should be able to pull off the majority of the old caulking in one long strip. Use a paint scraper or knife to clean up as much of the rest as possible.
If the old caulking is a mono type, you may have to heat it a little to remove it. But take care not to damage the wall or the frame of the window or door.
For replacement caulking, I recommend Dymonic FC (Fast Cure).
hope that helps
