How do I fix a video tape that has been tangled up inside?

Question:My vcr tangled up the tape inside the shell but didn't break it. I can't get the tape to move either back or forward.

Answers:
I presume the tape is not still in the machine. A video tape has a latch the keeps the spools from turning unless it is released. The release is located on the bottom side (as it is put in machine) look near the center toward the front for a hole about 1/4" dia. There is a black (usually) plastic thing covering the hole on the inside if you push up on this thing with a pencil or something like that, it will release the spools to rotate. It might be easier to unscrew the case to get at it if it is a real mess. The screws are on the bottom, but I believe you need to return the tape to the right side up position before opening. (I used to fix these messes for people, but Its been a long time since I took any of these apart, theyre almost obsolete) Try to avoid handling or creasing the tape when re-winding. I hope this helps

There's small hole in middle of the tape right on bottom.
Put a screw driver inside the hole and push back the key
located inside. Then clockwise twist the left roll till tape
get free from tangle.
