Is there a way to repair a crack in the base for a plastic shower surround?

Question:We installed a new shower base and surround last June. Now there is a crack in the base about 2 inches from the drain. The crack is about 3 inches long, but there is no gap. I don't want to have to tear the whole thing out and replace it if it can be fixed.

Answers:
yes and no. Yes you can repair it if you know how to do fiberglass repair. No you can't repair it because it will look like crap. Those things are molded in a factory and only a body shop person or someone with excellent skills in that area could do a decent repair. The other optin is to install a new unit right on top of the existing one.

I agree with MentalD. The cause is the lack of a mortarbed under the pan. Plastic and fiberglass pans (and tubs) are not strong enough to support a whole lot of weight and they flex and crack. Most installers pour premixed mortar onto a piece of plastic sheeting and then install the pan. This mortar forms to and supports the pan.
if youre in the uk try calling magic man.
phone no 08454581010 they call all kind of things like that
No positive fix, replace it and ensure correct supports, this is reason for cracking initially!
