Best option for getting my pool warmer...?
Question:I own a 15 foot round above ground pool with 5,000 gallons of water...I want to get the water as warm as possible...Will it get warmer with the pump on or off.
Answers:
circulating the water will cool it. Have a garage nearby? Try running a hose from your pump to the roof, coil it back and forth in several large "s" patterns, then loop it back into your pool. The heat generated from the sun on the shingles will heat the hose, in turn heating the water. Or you could buy a "solar cover" which magnifies the sun's heat, and helps retain the heat at night.
You can purchase a solar cover, It's basically blue bubble wrap. Pump on by the way, "circulation"
I don't really see how pumping the water will warm it up any noticeable degree. You mention that the pool get's a lot of sun so a good thing to try might be a solar pool cover.
They are like blankets for your pool designed to collect the heat from the sun and transfer it through to your water. They can raise the temperature of your water by a few degrees if you get a lot of sun.
Plus they will also help keep out leaves, bugs, etc. For a pool that size you're probably using a cover anyways so using a solar cover probably won't require any extra effort on your part anyways.
Install a heat pump with a higher temp setting made for above ground pools. 5,000 gallons is a lot of water to heat, it takes time. If you are in a cooler climate it may take longer, warmer climates much faster. If you have a pool cover, cover it and turn on the pump, it should get warmer.
Overheated human bodies, partially immersed in the pool will help out a lot.
I'll bring my own refreshments. Where and when?
