use tubing cutter cut at break in line buy a compression coupler and that's it
Gee Rob, your either going to have to replace that copper pipe or go and re-do the whole system with pvc.
Locate the leak, cut out the offending section using a pipe cutter. Purchase two cuplings and a piece of copper pipe to replace the old one you cut out. The cuplings are used to attach the new pipe to the extisting pipe. Solder the sections together. You will need:
Piper Cutter
Two cuplings
Pipe (new)
Plumbers sand paper
Plumbers solder and flux
A torch.
Two sets of pliers to hold the hot pipe in place.
Sand the ends of the new and old pipe, this will create a rough surface for bonding. Place flux in the ends that you are soldering, heat the pipe and while heating hold the solder at the joins and wait until it starts to run, it will get sucked into the joins of the pipe.
To protect the walls from the heat, place a piece of folded (4 times) tin foil behind the joint you are soldering.
Test for leaks if any are found. Bleed the water from the line and resolder.
it is very unusual for a copper line to come loose. anyway first call your local miss utility center and have your yard located for all existing underground lines (it's the law). Hire a local licensed and bonded plumber to do the work he will dig up your yard and repair the leak if this leak is close to your foundation have him support the pipe from the foundation out approx. 10 feet by sliding an oak board under the water pipe he will have the line inspected and then he will back fill the trench and dress up the area.in the mean time if you are on good terms with your neighbor you could ask them if you could hook up to their outside faucet and run a water hose over to your outside faucet that way you'll have water while the repairs are taking place.
