Heating/AC unit estimates. Are these prices negotiable? If paying cash will they come down 10 or 20%.?
Question:Companies prices are so high, will they come down for a cash payment? Thanks
Answers:
Most anything is negotiable, however asking a HVAC company to drop as much as 20% for paying cash is not.
Do not choose a Heating & Central Air Conditioning system on PRICE ONLY. There are several brands available ranging from the top of the line to junk.
Understand that the prices quoted are for equipment, permits, labor, taxes, certified trained technicians with all the necessary tools, trucks, insurances, etc. Of course the HVAC company will make a small profit but not get rich from just one job.
Make surre the HVAC company properly sizes the equipment to your house. Oversized equipment will not dehumidify the house and undersized will not cool it properly. Square footage alone is NOT how to size a new HVAC system.
The prices are usually somewhat negotiable, but I doubt they will knock very much if any off for cash. The best way to go about it is to get several prices and then see if the person you want to do the work will match the cheapest price.
I just got 4 quotes for a replacement heat/AC system, and the quotes are firm prices. There was, however a $1500.00 difference between the low anh high quotes. Shop around for the best price, but remember that price should not be the only determining factor. Compare warranties and service policies as well.
Your best bet is to find a mechanc that is a union steamfitter a/c service tech. You should never use these non-union rat shops. They are way over priced and have really crappy work. Find yourself a guy to do under the table work. It will be half the price and if you find a union man, it SHOULD be done with profesional quality work.
