Has any one got any advise on taking down a wooden shed?

remove the side boards and then you can push it over even with the roof still on.
The side boards are what keeps it standing.
That's funny with respect to my first answer, but I'm really glad you're doing the FreeCycle thing.
Deconstructing it will depend on how it was constructed and how large it is. If you're lucky, it may have been assembled as panels with a gable roof.
If it was constructed in that manner, you may be able to remove the nails or screws that hold the roof to the walls and each panel wall together. If it is smallish, you may be able to remove the roof in one piece, then do the same to each of the four walls, pile them in the truck and drive off.
We constructed a shed on our property by building each wall separately, then used metal plates to fix them to one another before covering them with Hardypanels. We constructed a gable roof separately, then lifted it on top and fixed it to the four walls, again using metal plates. We could take it apart in a couple of hours if we needed to.
If you can tell us how large it is and how it's built, we could help more.
You could try an advertisement locally for a free shed to anyone who comes and removes it.
ok so burning it is out of the question then. start with the roof, you wont be able to save the shingles but the wood should be ok. once the shingles are gone go inside the shed and start beating upwards at the wood knocking it off the roof. when all that is done start on the rafters then move to the walls. It will take longer to put it back up than it did to knock it down! have fun.
