Do you have to lube/oil pool filter motors?

Question:Magnetek Century Lasar Pool/Spa Filter

Answers:
Pool motors are sealed and cannot be lubricated. The bearings are lubricated when the motor is built and sealed. No maintenance is required. Make sure you keep the area around and under the motor free of any debris or dirt. Adequate air flow is essential. I had ants build a nest around mine to keep warm and it burnt out the motor. Since then I treat the area every month for pests.especially ants.

Most newer motors, especially those in severe service conditions, have sealed bearings that cannot be lubricated. When they go out, it is easier and cheaper to just replace the motor.
