How do i remove a submersible deep well pump?

It is best to have at least two people. Turn off the electric to the pump. Disconnect the wires at the top of the well casing. Remove the well cap. You will need a piece of 1" pipe with a thread on one end. Look down into the well casing and you will see a slide fitting about 4 to 5 feet down. Screw the pipe into the fitting. Pull up on the pipe and the piping and wiring attached to the pump will start to come up the casing. Once the pipe starts up-- Do not let go. Have one person stay at the well and pull the pipe and wiring up as the other walks the pipe away from the well until you have the pump out. Hopefully it is not too deep as the weight of the pipe and pump can be quite heavy. Well drillers have a machine for pulling a pump out.
rip it out
Call a well driller
Inside the well-casing cap the installer should have notated the depth of the well. You also need to know if the piping is plastic or steel. The weight difference could easily take this removal out of the realm of the do-it-yourselfer. Figure the pump to be about 25 lbs, and a hundred feet of plastic pipe 11/2 " in diameter adds another 40 lbs. or so, and then add the weight of probably thirty gallons of water in the pipe, approx. 240 lbs, and you get the picture. Steel pipe can easily double that 305 lbs. Your call. Maybe it'll be 1" plastic, and only 75 feet deep, who knows. Just find out some things before you get caught with the pitless adapter un-hooked and you realize you can't hang on to the whole thing. Ask a neighbor who might have had their well worked on, usually all the wells in a given area are done with the same type materials. Good luck.
