I just installed two air conditioners in my house. Is it costly to keep them running constantly? Any tricks?

Question:My girlfriend is 8 months pregnant and the heat is really getting to her. She constantly wants the house cold. How can I keep my house cool without it costing me in the wallet? Should the air conditioners stay constantly on? Only on during days or just nights? Does it cost me in the wallet to keep recooling the house after the air is shut off?

Answers:
She's 8 months pregnant. Suck it up and give her what she wants. It will make you happier in the end.

i assume ur talking about window units..if so close off the room if need to cool down that area....also use a fan it will drop the air temp onthe skin by up to 7 deg..

to save money you should keep them on around 75 degrees, also they should not run constantly, that's why they have thermostats,to adjust the temperature.before buying a ac you should have found out the square feet of room, also is it on a sunny wall, put up curtains to keep out sun during the day, your ac might be overworking to much, they might be to small for apt.
a really old fashioned trick is to keep all ur windows open at night and close them in the morning and pull down the shade. It keeps the cool air in the house. Umm... you could only run ur air conditioner when u r home or get a timer. You don't need it all the time like while ur sleeping have it turn off at 1am.
and the unit stops.
Of course it cost you in the wallet to leave your air conditions running constantly. Just Set the desired temp. and run the machines until that temperature is reached.
Control is the word.
if you installed the newer types of a/c's it would be in the best interest of your wallet to keep them at a set level and leave them on. it takes way to much energy to heat a hot house than to keep a cool house cool. have fun with the new baby!
