Please HELP OVEN PROBLEMS?

Question:Ok i started my oven on a self clean cycle. Then it started to stink so i stopped it and tried to unlock the oven door. Unfortaunatley to oven lock is stuck and wont let me unlock. Is it because the oven is to hot or do I need to start it over plzzz help.

Answers:
You have interrupted the clean cycle. Try unplugging the range, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in and re-start the clean cycle. It will stink, because it is burning the old spills off of the oven floor and walls. It should go through the cycle and release the lock when it's done cooling -- unless you've bent the latch assembly trying to open it.

For your protection the oven will not unlock until it is below a certain temperature.
the temperature needs to drop below a certain degree. also, for future reference, make sure you pull out the racks when self-cleaning, it ruins the finish
