Question:How long and how often should you run a pool pump on above ground/above pool?

6 hours per day minimum
8 hours per day is better

I always ran mine about 8 hours a day until a pool shop told me that it was unnecessary. They said the best time to run it was when the pool was being used and the particals were getting suspended in the water or when chemicals were added.

Ddepending on the location and amount of tree debris that falls into it. i run mine every 2 days all night only. then turn it off vacumn and chlorinate it. Run for an hour to mix the chlorine in. Perfect.

Run it all the time. Having circulation in your water is very good for it. Water that isn't circulating allows algae to grow easier. Run it all the time, but if you have to turn it off, turn it off at night.
