What is wrong with my toilet?

Question:When the toilet is flushed the tank does not fill. What should I do?

Answers:
OK! A lot of answers here, lets try and find the correct answer. You say that if you fill the tank with a bucket, it will flush as normal, so this eliminates all those that say it is the flapper. You also say that once you have flushed this water from the bucket down, the tank will not refill itself, therefore the problem is in the water supply. Try and disconnect the water line, and point the open end into a bucket, and turn on the water. If you don't have water, disconnect the flex line, and turn the water valve, to see if water flows. If not, you will need a plumber to help unstop the water line in the wall. If you have water, the problem is the fill valve. Depending on the type you have, most of the plastic fill valves can have the top twisted 1/4 turn counter clockwise, and remove the top. With your hand over the top of the open fill valve, turn the water on at the shutoff valve, and this should blow out any debris that has lodged inside, thus clearing out the valve. Now reassemble the fill valve, and turn the water back on and check for leaks. Flush toilet and everything should work fine. Good luck!

stop eating turds out of the bowl
pay your water bill.
fill the tank
call a plumber?
See your gastrointerologist. Now.
Stop flushing down used condoms, it will clog the pipes! No seriously, the black rubber thing at the botton of the talk is probably not lifting
Check the Water Main going into your toilet and ensure that it's on. Should be right behind the toilet.
call a plumber. LOL
Go to your local hardware store and get the replacement parts.
get another chain with the stopper ...yours might be old and won't work.
replace the thing with the ball
the valve inside the toliet is broken
you can buy a kit from the plumbing department and replace the whole assembly
Take the Vodka bottle out of the tank
check the float in the tank...may be it must have got stuck some where.

chk the FLOAT.it si very important..
make sure the water is on. Look at the small metal hose at the back toward the floor. It should have a small faucet handle on it
sounds like a bad Ballcock valve. (no that not a joke.) you can get replacement parts at any hardware store. If you really don't know what you are doing call a fix-it man. A plumber is not really needed because it is a simple repair.
i dont know what it is called but u might try replacing the thingy that fills it up if that doesnt work replace the hose that connects the tank to the wall and if that doesent work CALL A PLUMBER!!
There is a float that must be stuck. Move it a little and see it it unsticks. Else the valve is broken and needs replacing, a plumbing job.
check first check that the water supply is turned on. if yes. and water runs check the flapper on the bottom of the tank for seal. if not replace. if yes check the float ball and float fill assembly is working if not replace the entire unit they are inexpensive go to Home Depot and get a wisperflush. a pair of channel locks is all you need. That is all it can be. happy flushing
before you try any of the above turn of your water at the mains
After flushing the toilet do you hear water flowing into the tank?

If not then check the waterline going to the tank it might be turned off. If that is on then the water is shut off somewhere else.

If you hear water running and its not filling up the you need to replace the plug in the tank.
check to see if the water line is open behind your toilet, if it is you may just have a floater that's is sticking.
