18" chain saw- if cleaning sprocket area with WD40, is it okay to get WD40 on the clutch?

Question:

Answers:
yes it won't hurt it

It isn't a good idea if you got it on the clutch pads ,the WD40 will cause it to slip. Just clean the clutch with brake cleaner or some type of non oily solvent (not gasoline or mineral spirits).
it wont hurt it but it will cause the problems with the clutch slipping and creating safety issues.

like a previous poster mention clean it with mineral spirit or a non oily cleanser.
I wouldn't worry to much, I've used a chain saw to cut wood part time all my life, in fact I had three of them two stihls 31 and one 45.
WD_40 if you don't already know is not an oil, some people don't realize this, it's a cleaner and frees nuts and bolts, the original purpose.
If you get it on the clutch just let it dry for awhile.
