Water volume of a 18x4 ft, pool?

To figure out volume, you need to know length, width and depth.

You only gave two of the three.

Or is it circular?

You seem to be missing a dimension. Is it four feet wide? That's a pretty narrow pool.
pi x r squared x height
1017 cubic feet
6707 gallons
Assuming you're referring to an 18ft. round above-ground pool, the volume is approx 7,600 gallons.

The formula for above-ground rounds:

Diameter(ft) x Diameter(ft) x Depth (ft) x 5.9

For you doubters, this is the industry standard way of doing it. Rectangles would use 7.5 instead of 5.9 (for number of gallons in a cubic foot of water.) It's figuring it out like everyone else is, but the 5.9 multiplier is compensating for the shape of the pool: obviously, a 18 x 18 rectangle would hold more water than an 18 round.

Use the link in the first answer and you'll come up with the same answer : 7600 gallons.
