Bathroom shower issue?
Question:when turning the diverter to take a shower, water kept coming out of the main tub faucet.Thought one of the gaskets in the stem was bad so i looked. A gasket had definitly fell apart with age, there was black rubber bits all over. Went to homedepot, found repair kit to match my Price Fister diverter stem model and replaced every gasket. I tested it to make sure the problem was resolved, i found that water was still coming out of the main faucet when the shower head was on. But the new problem that I am extremely concerned about is that the plumbing system now makes a terrible vibrating sound when I go to shut everything off. I turn the diverter off to move water from the shower head to the main faucet, then go to shut off the hot and cold valves. When turning these, a scary loud noise is heard, and the pipes seem to be vibrating. I have to quickly turn them both off to stop the noise. I have no idea what to do. sounds like a backpressure noise. Please help, i fear a leak will start.

If you replaced the bibb washer and that did not cure your problem, I would replace the seat as well.
You should have a pressure valve located outside that needs to be turned down. Not that it's not leaking it's building up too much pressure. Check that out and see if that works.
We call this hammering. It is a common problem on fast-shutting fixtures such as toilets but can occur on showers and lavatories as well. You need to talk to a plumber about installing hammer arrestors on the hot and cold lines running to the shower. You could also ask him to check you shower valve body for calcium and/or lime deposits inside your valve body. The gaskets and washers in the repair kit are only as good as the surfaces they are sealing against. If they are corroded, they won't help much.
