Unlock a bathroom door?
Question:I've got a twisting sort of lock, not a push button sort. One of the kids locked it from the inside and shut it. I took of the outer door knob, and back door knob came off in the process, too. So now I'm looking at only the innards of a door knob. I've tried pushing against the levers that I see, but nothing springs loose. The locking thing just seems stuck. What do I do from here? How do I get the door to open?
Answers:
take the screws out then turn tumbler with screw driver its hard to explain but easy 2 do once u get it open
If there is a square hole in the center that the knob went through, stick a screwdriver in it crosswise and turn it. May be able to pull it over if it is the type that the whole mechanism moves when the handle is turned.
Most bathroom doors have a hole in the very center to push a pin or nail in to unlock from the out side of the bathroom, are you saying yours does not..
try slipping a credit card into the door frame where the lock is at. A screw driver pushed up against the inner guts of the door knob and twisted around should work too. If all else fails you can either kick the door down (kick at the lock) or call the fire department if your child is still locked inside the room.
to bad the hinges are on the other side or you could just take it off that way. Pushing things is not the way to go try and turn things since its a turning device. I would have just gotten a skinny long medal something to stick in the hole of the door knob and got in that way (like a skinny screw driver) that is if the hole is there for it.
