Freezer Ice: How do I prevent ice forming inside my freezer?
Question:I have 2 small refrigerators sitting side by side, same temperature setting. One constantly grows iceTHICK. The other grows none at all.
Why?
Answers:
it depends on the type of fridge. (frost-free or not?) if they are both the frosting kind then ice is normal. It also depends on the amount of food in the fridge, the amount of time the door is opened, the door gasket, etc it could be a number of things that make each fridge unique. If they are frost-free fridges and you get ice, then you have a problem.
Salt prevents water from freezing.
So try putting maybe a block of salt in your freezer.
make sure you clean the coils behind the unit the is icing and also check the setting for the freezer
I have a small fridge at work, about 3 feet tall, the ice grows, and we don't know how to stop it from happening, so every so often one of my coworkers or I take a pick to the ice and clean out the fridge. If you find a diff. way, I'd also like to know.
your door seal may not be tight. that will allow ice to form.
It sounds as though you may have a bad rubber gasket in the one freezer door. Is the other freezer plugged in? lol
moister is seeping in through the door gaskets, try to pull a business card around the doors, between the gasket seal and the door gasket, if it has a resistant drag, it's okay, but if it slips easily at some point, that is the leak source. also check your iced up one for defrost system failure.
One is a frost free and the other is not.
Maybe you keep the door opened too long sometimes, or the seal on the door is not airtight.
Also could be what you have surrounding it (toaster, oven, heater, etc).
I would say one is a self defrosting and the other not
