Can I fix a scratch on the laminate surface of my IKEA table?
Question:My boyfriend cut it with a bread knife in three places. Oops!
We are wondering whether it can be sanded, or if the laminate can somehow be melted or something. It's in a pretty visible spot. I only got it this year so I can't afford to replace it - with anything! - for a few years.

Sorry -I doubt the scratch can be removed.
First of all, you need to put your boyfriend on PR for that move! Secondly, I wouldnt try and sand it if I were you. The melting idea sounds better but I would start with a very low heat and try "rubbing" the scratch together so that it closes the gap. Maybe use like a butane lighter starting at like 10 inches away from the table and making sweeping motions and then rub it right away. Be careful not to burn your fingertips though. Good luck!
