I have a medium sized wood burning stove which i use to steam my large kitchen in the winter. some days when i enlarge it a large draught carrying black soot and debris flows into the room is in that anything i ca do to stop this it is destroying my furniture.

Answers:    This is just one of the hazards of have wood heat. If you do not want to go to the expense of chimney modifications try the following. The draft is stalled when your downdraft is stirring and what has to happen until that time you open the door is increasing the flow up the chimney. In extreme cases to help next to this a window must be opened first to release the slight vacuum that have developed in the house from the action of the wood fire. Next, undo the dampeners or slightly crack the door to increase the airflow to the fire to increase the volume of hot air up the chimney. Then after the flame has stunningly increased you can safely open the door fully.
You entail a terminal on top of the chimney that is designed to counter down draughts. The Colt Cowl be the old favourite, but nearby may be a selection these days. Enquire of builders merchants. Just start on a little and let the draft start getting the fire going again later finish opening to fill next to wood. You may also want to check your chimney it might be getting plugged
Perhaps the chimney needs sweeping. although the wind break belief sounds good. put a small wind break over your chimney --- it may sound ridiculous but it does work!!
