Help!! Serious ant problem! How do I kill them? Have no $$ for an exterminator!?

I have had luck with HOT SHOTS ant baits.

Place them at the entry point of where the ants are coming in and/or where ever you see them, They eat the bait and then take it to their nest and help feed the colony. This stuff kills the ant plus the colony within 24 to 36 hours after ingestion.

In meantime clean crumbs up and any greasy or sticky messes, ants are attracted to this stuff. I find cleaning with equal parts of alchohol and water in spray bottle works well, plus this will eliminate the ants trail scent so other ants will not be able to follow it.
ants don't like to cross over powder, boric acid, or chalk. Make a mark with chalk or sprinkle powders across their path or entry point to deter them from coming in...

1/2 cup of Ivory liquid soap and 1/4 cup lime juice mixed with 1 quart of water. Put it in a spray bottle and shake it up. Spray the ants and that will kill them.
Are they carpenter or sugar ants? Carpenter, use the pellets in a shaker (I forgot the name) and after 4 weeks if you don't see them make sure to spray to keep them away. If they are sugar ants terro works well as does baits. Plus use borax around the house to keep them from coming in.
Diatamatious (no idea how to spell it, but hardware store will know) earth is a white powder that acts like broken glass to ants, but pretty harmless for humans. Sprinkle in areas where they walk.
mix boric acid and honey, Pore in hole
Boric acid is sold at a hardware store as roach control
This is funny... we always had a problem with ants since we moved into our house 7 years ago. My daughter mistakenly left a McDonald's pancake syrup outside the back door about 1 foot to the side of the door and instead of going in the house, the ants marched to the syrup. It was amazing, I left it there for about 2 weeks and the ants mysteriously were gone after that. It's cheap and worth a try, let me know if it works for you.
hello there, I use raid, it works every time for at least one year. spray raid where ever the ants can come in, you will not have another ant cross where you have sprayed.
Get some "Taro" it's a couple of dollars, cut some cardboard pieces and a few drops on each piece. Put them around the perimeter of the areas, it'll take a few days but they'll all be gone. Go outside the house and find where they're coming in. Put some "taro" out around that area too.
Buy ant bait traps (they are little plastic squares with poisoned food inside) at home improvement store, some grocery stores carry them too.

The ones I've used are by Raid, about $6 for a box of 4. The ants crawl in...carry the poison food back to the colony to share and eventually they kill themselves...no spray or anything nasty.

Be sure to sweep up any food crumbs quickly, fix any water leaks, or dripping hoses.

I had to get rid of some potted plants on my deck...they found this a nice place to live.
nutra sweet sprinkled around will kill ants it was invented as ant poison
