The pool drain should go to the pump inlet the pump outlet should go to the filter inlet and the filter outlet should go to the heater inlet and the heater inlet to the pool. Normally.
Unless this is an above ground pool (and a small one) get someone to do that for you. messing up the connections can be a world of trouble.
