I need help fixing a cardboard door. The screwholes for the hinges are too degraded.?
Question:I need a quick cosmetic fix for a cardboard door. Since my landlord is obviously only interested in making cosmetic changes, my fix only needs to be in the same spirit. Since the door is cardboard, the holes have degraded so much that the screws (for the hinges) won't fit. I tried filling the holes with superglue, but it didn't adhere to the cardboard. I'd rather not spend more money on something that won't work. Any ideas? I thought that maybe I could fill the hole with something sturdier or use really long nails. Would this work? I'm open to other ideas..

I've had good luck repairing the doors with wood filler.Take the hinge out of the way and stuff the hole's with the wood filler paste and wait for it to cure , it wll be good as new.Drill the holes and mount the hinges should work fine ,Good luck!!.
no nails.. longer screws wont do it.. wood on edge is only 3/4 or so thick. maybe try expanding anchors, small toggle bolts. better glue and glue the hinge to the door not just the screws.
use bondo , that seems to work good. Get bigger screws, or use some toggel bolts.
stick a sliver of wood in the old screw hole or a tooth pick you nee something to fill the hole so the screw will grab
Remove the hinge from the door. Drill a 1/4" hole where the screws go and insert a wooden dowel into hole ...glue the dowel before inserting. Repeat for all the holes in door. wait for glue to dry. Clean off the excess glue and any protruding dowel. Refix hinge. As good as if not better than new.
i have used a self drilling drywall anchor for this very purpose, people want it fixed not replaced
you may have to drill a pilot hole so it does not explode the door
then just use a drywall screw
works great
Re position where the hinges are.
