Whether Split Air Conditioner uses more electricity or a Window Type AC?
Question:
Answers:
Will you be running the home AC all the time, or just a little while? Will the window unit be running all the time, or just a little while? Are you trying to cool a room so that you can see your breath, or just take it down a few degrees?
You need some more specifics before you can get a decent answer.
A window unit cooling a single room for only a short period of time will use less energy.
A split AC will make the home feel cooler, but use more energy.
If you are comparing a split ductless A/C, look for similar size Btu or Tonnage ratings; check the wattage consumption rating and the SEER rating to compare energy usage more accurately.
Keep on Koolin'
A 120 v window a/c use's more powe than a 240 v unit. as allways a central unit does pull less power eff rateing the higher the better
If you are comparing total cooling with energy consumpsion, a window unit uses more electricity to do the same job (AND you need multiple units to cool the whole house) but if you are asking which one pulls more elec. when it's running... Obviously the central unit does... Bigger compressor, larger fan motor- MULTIPLE fan motors..
