How do you fix the "straw bindings" of a papasan chair?

Question:The papasan is held together by small nails. These areas are then wrapped in "straw" so that the nails don't show. On my chair, the straw is breaking off or has already broken off completely. What should I use to re-cover/re-wrap these parts?

I'm thinking something involving a hot glue gun.

Answers:
Go to the hobby store in your area, Hobby Lobby or Michael's, and pick up a package of bamboo wrapping material. To start the process soak the wrapping in warm water to soften it. Take off the old binding and replace it with the new. You will have to wrap it tightly. Use a rubber band to secure until the new wrapping dries. Once dried remove the rubber band carefully and then use the hot glue gun to attached the very end of the wrapping down.

Good luck!
