Air conditioner cord and plug get hot after running just a couple of minutes.?

Question:Our electrician replaced the plug and cord a couple of years ago. It is an older unit. We have it plugged into a surge protector. Just wondering if it's safe or if there's something wrong with it.

Answers:
Yes, !! Turn it off! it is hot because its drawing too many amps. Could be a compressor failing. Do not run unit at all ! Get it checked or replace it.

there is nothing wrong in that the insulation might have gone weakend .there is nothing to worry
When refrigerant units begin to go bad they begin to draw more amperage. Usually it is the compressor
