My central air conditioner works fine for about 15 hours. Then the compressor turns off.?

Question:The incoming refrigerant line gets warm. The condensor fan and the blower in the furnace continue to operate. The air being blown gradually gets warmer. If I turn off the AC at the thermostat, then turn it on 20 minutes later, the AC will work fine for a bout another 15 hours.

Answers:
If you are running your compressor for 15 hours continuous with no break then you are over doing it. The compressor will get warm from running and it will eventually shut off to prevent burning up completely. you should possibly concider a bigger unit that will put out more CFM's so you dont burn this one out.

Where do you live that you are running AC for 15 hours...AZ?
and what temp are you trying to maintain. If its 100 degrees outside then you may only hope for about 80 inside your house.

Can't tell for sure without testing but it sounds like the compressor motor is going.
check the thermostat 1st, as that is the cheapest thing to fix. Sometimes the coils get dusty or just aren't flexible any more. When this happens the switch wont work right.
