How can I clean Victorian window panes?

Question:They defy cleaning with windolene or similar. They look sort of cloudy, as if the dirt is ground in!

Answers:
TRY SCREWED UP NEWSPAPER

with water.
Get Victoria to clean them
As 1st 2 replies but add vinegar to the water
The glass from that era is full of bubbles because it was done by hand and not machine. Chances are that your "glass" isnt' glass after all but crystal. My house is really old and we found out that the wavy, slightly cloudy 6 foot glass window is actually a piece of crystal. Newspaper and vinegar are the best for getting it clean but the cloudiness won't disappear. If you want clear flat panes you will need to get them replaced.
i suppose it would be flippant to say hire a victorian window cleaner wouldn't it? so, I won't do that
with Luke warm water about a cap full of white vinegar add together and a soft cloth
Do you own a steam cleaner?
You could try this, works fine on modern glass, but you need to ensure that the inside of the house is about the same temp as outside.

Vinegar also great
think your stuck with it as already mentioned it was hand made and poor quality change it or live with it
