Why does heating come on when hot water switched on?
Question:When I turn on the hot water for my Gas Central Heating system the heating is coming on. Why is it doing this? The GCH boiler isn't old or anything, its approx 5 years old and gets serviced every year.
Answers:
if its just started doing this, the above is correct 1 of your motorised valves is sticking , if its always done this then the return from your radiator circuit is connected in the wrong place the nearest connection on the return to the boiler should be your hot water circuit if its not you will get reverse circulation through your rads
There's usually one or two motorised valves that direct the flow from the boiler to the heating and the hot water. First check that the motor hasn't come off. If it's sitting tightly on the valve, it's an electrical fault with the system.
If you're on a service contract, they should come and fix this without a labour charge.
Because the heating appliance heats up the water to make it hot or warm. . . . Clever?
Maybe you have motorised valves for heating and hot water. heating valve could be stuck open. If you have a diverter valve you'd need to turn it to hot water only to stop heating coming on too..
Is there a summer / winter switch, that is a switch to put the central heating part out of action in the warm period, could be automatic and got stuck
you must have a setting somewhere saying water/heating or water only look in your manual if not call your engineer who service's it every year he will now
its an electrical problem, call your service men.
