How can I replace the cord in a patio umbrella?

Question:

Answers:
Use the old cord to pull in a new one. It can be a bit of a PITA but, if you have patients you can get it done. Just don't go pulling the old stuff out. Make sure you use the old line cord to "fish" in the new with.

If the old cord is out then straighten an entire wire hanger and tape the cord to the end . You may be able to fish the end out when inserted.
Another tactic is to stand the umbrella up and tie a small weight to the end of some fishing line. When the line is fished through then tie the end of the fishing line to the new cord and pull through.

Good luck!
