Question:I live in Colorado in an apartment, our a/c unit has been broke for about 2 months, i have been calling every day and asking them to come fix this, they keep telling me on tomorrow or oh next week but nothing is getting fixed, we try to keep fans going but i never see the temp under 86 its too hot in that palce, is there anything we can do since they wont seem to fix it?

Answers:
Tell the landlord if he doesn't get it fixed pronto, you will hire a service contractor yourself and deduct it from the rent. If A/C was advertised as being included in the apartment you rented, you are entitled to it. Meanwhile, call city hall and see if they have any thoughts on what you can legally do. A call to the local TV station investigative reporter sometimes does the trick too.

You must have a rental contract. Read it and see if it says anything about heat/cooling included. If so, the furnace and air should be maintained and kept in running order. Call them agan after you have read the agreement.
If they still do not respnd, call your local community building inspectors, building department etc and ask what kind of rights you have as a renter.
Call the owner (or apartment manager) and tell them that you have been patient, with no results, and that cooking (without air) makes the apartment so hot that you cannot enjoy your meal. Ask them what time you should show up at their place for meals. If they object to this solution tell them you'll be outside their place with picket signs if necessary.
