I think my table has woodworm?
Question:Can anyone tell me if there is a product out there that I can use to save my table? I have noticed small holes and dust piles on the floor.the table is very expensive and was a gift for my wedding.the table is a natural red wood slice and is worth around $30,000! its antique and is really old and was a family airloom..I dont want to get rid of it and i dont want to spoil it with products that dont work.help any good products out there?

The easiest way to get rid of the bugs is to heat the wood to about 140 F for 24 hours. This kills the insects, the eggs, the larva, etc. The wood could also be fumigated professionally. (As the holes you see are exit holes, the bugs are leaving the clock and usually won't return--they will go into some other piece of hardwood and show up two years later..you need to take action now.)
I found this on a furniture care site. I'm sorry I don't have the link to credit the author. I hope this helps!
well, most likely it's not woodworms, it's termites. You should call an exterminator.
Might inquire at an antique shop.
Sold an old hutch that had woodworm.
They said, no problem we will just "bag it" & said nothing else.
Assume they were goung to wrap it & use some kind of fumes.
Best regards.
If your table is wormy (wormy chestnut) you should remove it from your home. Notoriously these are bad news. Wormy Chestnut is a prized material for furniture making because of the stigma of the effect of the little devils. Most materials antique or not, should be inspected before using.
