Squeaking door hinges?

Question:Hi there

We've all been there, you have a door that always squeaks when you open or close it. Does anyone know of a good remedy (apart from WD40)

Scott

Answers:
The best thing is simple margarine just push it into the joints of the hinge and after a few quick close and shut it will be ok
cheers

you can use vegitable oil in lieu of wd40, but its only temporary. the hinge is bound or bent causing the squeak. fix the hinge to loose the squeak.
Knock the pins out (one at a time!) and lube them with a little light weight oil (3-in-one oil).
HHHHMMMMM.well, I would just go buy a can, but I suppose if you don't have the money..try using vegetable oil or baby oil.that might work.
Scott,
you might check the doors to make sure they are level first. Sometimes they squeek because of the house setteling and the door gets ajarred or off balance. If that is ok, Vaseline works too. Take the pin out of the hinge before adding the Vaseline.

I still prefer the good ole WD40 since it is cleaner and easier to use.
pull the pins and grease them. wd 40 is not that kind of lubricant. light oil will not last that long either, but it DOES work.
