How much will it cost to install central air conditioning?
Question:My house is a 1920 two story. Duct work already installed and a newer furnace. Its also about 1500 Sq ft.

You will have to call local HVAC installers and get quotes. The biggest cost will be in labor. For the equipment you are looking at about $1500 for a Goodman and $3000 for trane, carrier etc.
If your electric rate is high you might want to spend more and get a 16 seer unit. You will have to figure out though if it will ever pay for itself.
I suggest whatever system you go with to ask for an evaporator coil with a TXV. It will make your system much more efficient for little extra cost.
Depends on the unit and SEER rating (higher SEER = more efficient= more money). A decent SEER 14 system for the size you need will probably cost about $5000.
Also depends on the part of country. In the south there is so much competition and prices are better.
