Heating question?

Question:I have a Vulcan gas wall heater, is it more economical to run it at low overnight so it's warm when we wake up, or put it on high/boost for 2 hours in the morning, just to heat the house?

Answers:
I would say that running it on low over night would be better. For the best answer, ask the company that supplies the fuel that it uses.
I would also suggest improving the ability of your home to hold heat. Heat losses of the home are going to play a role in the answer to your question as well.

Can you install a programmable thermostat to control the heat on the unit?

If you can lower the temperature at night and bring it up in the morning for wake-up then lower the temp when you go out for the day, you will save enough to pay for the thermostat in a few months, then start saving money on the bill.

You save money for each degree you can lower the thermostat at night. You won't really notice the cold, as you will be bundled up in a thick comforter. Wear thick PJs with socks, and a night cap. 100 years ago, folks didn't have heating like this, so they got by and so can you.

If you want to verify the savings, run for a month with one way, and the next month run the other way, then compare. My prediction is you will burn less fuel (& cash) with the demand heating, rather than the constant heat.
