What oils are used to lubricate watch movements (self wind and automatic)? What are the specifications? Thanks

Question:

Answers:
I don't know what they use today but years a go it was whale oil

Most watches now are quartz movements. Some more expensive models may have jewel bearings.

The first responder is correct about the whale oil, it is still used by some watchsmiths. Tree-hugger watchsmiths use highly refined mineral oil. It will not have any gum or glycerin.
